ELBLAG OSTRODA CHANNEL

The unique and longest in Europe (130 km) inland waterway system was opened in 1860. The difference in water levels between the first and the last lock is 103,4m. The fleet of inland navigation sails along the canal on account of the existing system of locks and slipways which consist of three main sections and numerous branches.
Every year an increasing number of tourists sets aboard the small cruise ships. While the cruise ship leads through the canal's water gates tourists can admire the unique views of nature and landscape. They can not only observe the flora and fauna of Druzno Lake but also the ingeniously technical solutions of locks and slipways built in the XIX century.

We would like to offer two cruise options:

  • shorter - arrival to Buczyniec, visit to museum of canal engineering and go back to Gdańsk by coach
  • longer - all-day excursion combined with cruise on Druzno Lake - the nature reserve of waterfowl

  • The excursion can be combined with sightseeing of renovated Elbląg Old Town and a formal supper at the palace in Janowo near Elbląg.
